Meticulously engineered, discrete non-NFB circuits
To fully leverage the distinctive attributes of SOULNOTE's original perfectly balanced, discrete non-NFB circuits, we meticulously scrutinized every aspect of our amplifiers for potential enhancements. This included the integration of ground plane star wiring, centralization of local non-NFB regulators, establishment of direct coupling pathways, and optimization of drive current tuning, among other refinements. These efforts have resulted in heightened vibrancy and speed, as well as an expanded sound range.
High-performance, discrete non-NFB power supply
We have introduced a newly designed bifilar wound, high-capacity toroidal transformer featuring independent positive and negative windings. Additionally, we have reduced impedance by connecting multiple high-voltage, small-capacity filter capacitors in parallel and utilizing a fast recovery rectifier diode. Every detail has been meticulously refined to enhance the power supply, including minimizing current loops by positioning the rectifier diode in close proximity to the power transformer. This optimization further elevates the signal-to-noise ratio and speed.
Contactless wiring
All types of connectors within the signal system have been eliminated to establish a completely contactless architecture. The implementation of a three-dimensional printed circuit board assembly results in reduced impedance in the power supply lines, with wiring designed to prioritize star wiring. This advancement enhances the signal-to-noise ratio and alleviates concerns regarding contact degradation over time.
Output transistor pairing
The output transistors are characterized by low Cob, high Ft, and exceptional precision. We have carefully selected and paired these components based on their specific characteristics, enabling them to work in unison to enhance sound image focus and enrich three-dimensionality.
Relay-switching balanced attenuator
The volume control in the A1 eschews traditional rotary or electronic volume controls in favor of a newly developed relay attenuator style balanced configuration. This innovative approach significantly enhances clarity and allows the sound image to manifest in three dimensions, resulting in a marked improvement in overall audio performance.
Direct mechanical grounding construction
Spikes are affixed to the base of the transformer's center of gravity, allowing for the direct dissipation of detrimental vibrations without affecting the unit's housing. This configuration results in an exceptionally vibrant musical expression and a high signal-to-noise ratio.
Symmetrical housing with resonance control
The symmetrical design of the housing enhances rigidity and balance while managing the sharpness of resonance (Q factor). This approach mitigates the typical feeling of sound confinement found in highly rigid systems, thereby producing the expansive and high-resolution SOULNOTE sound. Additionally, the newly engineered, heavyweight aluminum front panel contributes to effective resonance management.
Metallic insulators as standard equipment (when under load)
While plastic insulators have been the traditional choice, we now utilize metallic insulators, as they significantly enhance sound quality.
Temperature settings:
The circuit current in SOULNOTE products relies on solutions with the highest emphasis on sound quality and safety. Functionality and sound quality generally improve when the transistors operate at higher temperature.
Anti-vibration housing:
SOULNOTE products place the highest emphasis on sound quality, so the top cover, chassis, and other components do not employ vibration isolation.
Regarding use of electronic equipment cleaners and contact rejuvenation products on SOULNOTE products:
Commercially available electronic equipment cleaners and contact rejuvenation products could damage the resin components of SOULNOTE AC inlets. Do not use these types of chemical products on SOULNOTE equipment.
